Your dose of nature
Your factory sensor doesn't just pick up more of the unpleasant: it also picks up more of the restorative. Log 3-4 short nature exposures this week and check if your load drops more than you'd expect.
| Exposure (where, how long) | Load before (0-10) | Load after (0-10) |
|---|---|---|
After a few days, ask yourself
- · Is the drop bigger the longer the exposure, or does it already show with just 5-10 minutes?
- · Does actually being outside (park, woods) matter more than seeing nature from a window?
- · Is there a time of day when nature lowers the load more than others?
Behind this sheet: An experience-sampling study (Weyn, Greven, Schmidt & Gillebert, 2025, Scientific Reports) found that highly sensitive people don't just log more overstimulation with unpleasant stimuli: they also log less overstimulation with pleasant ones, without tiredness and with good mood — nature fits that second category. Another study (Holzer, Dale & Baird, 2024, Sustainability) finds HSP connect more deeply with nature across several dimensions, and recent reviews (Greven et al., 2025, Trends in Cognitive Sciences) point to high sensitivity responding especially well to this kind of intervention.
